AND BEFORE WE HAVE TIME TO THE LAW, WE'D ALSO LIKE TO INTRODUCE TO THE BOARD, AND I JUST QUICKLY TAKE 20 SECONDS AND INTRODUCE IT TO YOU.
BUT ANYWAY, LET'S GET TO THE MCKINLEY MALL, I BELIEVE SUPERVISOR YOU WANNA GIVE, YOU GAVE AN UPDATE TO I THINK EVERYBODY ON THE STATUS OF THE MCKINLEY MALL.

UH, THIS WAS CONSIDERED TO BE AN OPTION WORTH PURSUING SIMPLY TO AVOID THE STIGMA OF A FORECLOSURE.

IT'S BASICALLY A TOOL SAYING THE TOWN NEEDS SOMETHING.
SO IN RETURN, WE WILL, WE WILL BE WILLING TO BEND THE RULES, CHANGE THINGS, ALLOW DIFFERENT USES.
UM, IT'S BEEN USED FOR MANY DIFFERENT THINGS.

THEY'VE USED 'EM FOR FAIR HOUSING.

SO THERE'S MANY DIFFERENT THINGS YOU CAN GET IN THE LAW.
YOU CAN GET CASH IN LIEU OF, YOU CAN BASICALLY SAY, HEY, IN LIEU OF THIS, WE'LL PAY YOU CASH.

SO I THINK RON AND I WERE FAIRLY COMFORTABLE WITH THE VALUES THAT WE ARRIVED AT.
UM, BUT IT'S CERTAINLY SOMETHING THAT WE WOULD ALSO FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE KNOWING THAT AN INDUSTRIAL APPRAISAL WAS DONE.
IT'S REALLY GONNA DO AN IN DEPTH ANALYSIS.
DID YOU, DID YOU LOOK AT IT WITH RESPECT TO WHAT YOU ASSUMED THE REPLACEMENT COST WOULD BE? OR DID YOU LOOK AT WHAT YOUR EYEBALL TOLD YOU ABOUT FAIR MARKET VALUE REPLACEMENT COSTS? WHAT WE LOOKED AT.

YEAH, I THINK THE RECOMMENDATION THAT I WOULD'VE IS, IS TO REALLY LOOK AT WAYS WE CAN REDUCE OUR EXPENSES BASED ON THE IMPROVE SOFTWARE IN TERMS OF OUTSOURCING AND, UM, SOME OF THE COSTS THAT WE'RE, WE'RE PAYING NOW IN TERMS OF THE ACCOUNTANTS WORK, UM, THAT I THINK WITH ENHANCEMENTS IN TECHNOLOGY, I'M, I'M THINKING THAT THERE'S A PRETTY GOOD POSSIBILITY WE COULD SAVE ON SOME OF THOSE COSTS TO OFFSET THE COST OF THE PROGRAM, AND I THINK WE CAN AS WELL.
THE UNFORTUNATE THING IS THAT, UM, SINCE I CAME HERE AND WE HIRED KIM, UM, INTO A FULL-TIME POSITION, I'VE ALREADY DECREASED OUR CONSULTANT BUDGET FROM ABOUT 125 GRAND TO 25 GRAND.
SO REALLY WE HAD THE BIG COST SAVINGS THERE ALREADY, THAT NOW, LIKE WE STILL ARE SPENDING 25 GRAND, WE'LL, OF COURSE BE ABLE TO GET THAT LOWER.
YOU KNOW, I WOULD SAY MAYBE, YOU KNOW, DEPENDING ON, I REALLY HAVE TO SEE IT FIRST BEFORE I COULD GIVE AN ESTIMATE ON THAT, BUT THAT IS PROBABLY SMALL IN COMPARISON TO THE COST SAVINGS THAT WE'RE REALLY GONNA HAVE IN TERMS OF EFFICIENCY, JUST TOWN WIDE.

I THINK, UM, THE, THE MISCELLANEOUS BILLING FEATURE THAT WE ADDED, THAT ONE IS GREAT BECAUSE THAT GIVES US A WAY TO TRACK AND REPORT ANY BILLS THAT GET SENT OUT BY INDIVIDUAL DEPARTMENTS RIGHT NOW WHERE MONEY NEEDS TO COME IN.
UM, THAT WILL BE UNIFORM AND WE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE ANY RECEIVABLES THAT ARE OUT THERE.
THERE'S ALREADY SOME PROCESSES THAT FLOW THROUGH MULTIPLE DEPARTMENTS WHERE EACH HAS A DIFFERENT PIECE OF THE PUZZLE, BUT THERE'S NO GREAT WAY WE STARTED USING SHARED, LIKE A SHARED EXCEL THAT, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE CAN MONITOR THAT WITH, BUT IT'LL BE SO MUCH SIMPLER.
SO EVEN JUST ENSURING THE REVENUE WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING, UM, MORE SO THE SMALL, YOU KNOW, SMALL AMOUNTS, OBVIOUSLY IN MY DEPARTMENT REVENUE OR SOMETHING, I MAKE SURE THAT WE GET THAT, BUT WHEN YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT ONES THAT ARE MORE BASED ON VOLUME, ESPECIALLY IN LIKE THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT MM-HMM

SO WELL, UM, THE, AS YOU KNOW, YOU'VE HEARD ME TALK ABOUT THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN REVIEW PROCESS.
AN IMPORTANT PART OF THAT IS TO GARNER AS MUCH INPUT AND INFORMATION FROM THE COMMUNITY AND THE PUBLIC AS AS POSSIBLE.
THAT STARTED WITH ALL OF THE MEETINGS WE'VE HAD WITH THE TEAM.
THE TEAM REPRESENTS ALL OF THE DIFFERENT IMPORTANT STAKEHOLDER GROUPS.
AND, AND THAT WAS A FIRST STEP.
BUT THEN THE TEAM, UM, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE, UH, PLANNER THAT WE'RE WORKING WITH DEVELOPED A COMMUNITY SURVEY.
THAT COMMUNITY SURVEY IS LIVE RIGHT NOW, AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE GIVE AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE FOR THE COMMUNITY AND THAT WE GET THE WORD OUT THERE SO THAT WE HAVE AS MUCH COMMUNITY, UH, RESPONSE AS POSSIBLE.
I BELIEVE THERE'S ABOUT A THOUSAND RESPONSES RIGHT NOW.
UM, BUT WE REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE.
UM, THERE WAS SOMETHING IN THE HAMBURG SUN LAST WEEK.
WE HAVE ALSO BEEN REACHING OUT THROUGH ALL OF OUR DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS.
THE CHIEF HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL.
UM, JENNIFER, THEY'VE BEEN REALLY, UH, PUSHING IT OUT THERE, BUT IF YOU SEE THE LINK, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE IT.

UH, MR. PETRI, UH, JUST, UH, I WOULD LIKE TO PUT A QUICK, UH, THANK YOU TO OUR PUBLIC WORKS, UH, FOR THE GOOD JOB THEY'RE DOING.
THEY'RE OUT THERE ALL HOURS OF THE DAY KEEPING US, UH, THE ROAD SAFE AND STREETS LOUD.
UH, MR. CONLEY, HOW ABOUT YOU? UH, JENNY AND IT AND I HAVE BEEN WORKING TOGETHER IN TERMS OF, UM, THE PRINTERS IN THE TOWN, TRYING TO SEE IF THERE'S POSSIBLE WAYS TO REDUCE COST EXPENSES.
UM, SO OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS WE'RE HOPING TO MEET WITH, UH, VARIOUS DEPARTMENT HEADS IN ASSESSING, UH, HOW MANY PRINTERS ARE USING, WHAT PRINTERS ARE USING.
YOU KNOW, HOW MANY, UH, YOU KNOW, WHETHER IT BE COLOR OR, OR, UH, BLACK AND WHITE.
JUST TO, YOU KNOW, GET, GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM THEM AS WE TRY TO OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS.
REDUCE THE EXPENSES, UH, AS WE GET, YOU KNOW, BETTER WITH TECHNOLOGY.
UH, AND IT'S BECOMING A PAPERLESS SOCIETY.
WE FEEL LIKE THERE'S SOME OPPORTUNITIES.
UH, WE'VE GOT MULTIPLE VENDORS.
WE'VE GOT MULTIPLE VENDORS, UM, FOR THAT ARE SERVICING THE PRINTERS.
SO WE FEEL THAT EVENTUALLY AS SOME OF THOSE CONTRACTS CAN DO, WE CAN, UH, COMBINE, UH, WITH ECONOMIES OF SCALE, PROBABLY REDUCE SOME OF THE SERVICE COSTS THAT WE HAVE, SOME OF THE CONTRACTS, UM, AND TRY TO HAVE A, A BETTER WELL COORDINATED PLAN BETWEEN ALL THE DEPARTMENTS AS OPPOSED TO EACH DEPARTMENT KIND OF DOING THEIR OWN THING.
SO WE'RE JUST EXPLORING THE PROCESS.
UH, WE'RE NOT SURE IF WE CAN, UH, SAVE MONEY, BUT WE THINK THAT WE CAN, WE'RE GONNA JUST TRY OUR BEST IN THE NEXT, UH, FEW MONTHS TO KEEP THAT MOVING FORWARD.
